Angela says that one of the best pieces of advice she'd give to a new mom is just to do what works best for YOU.
Nursing or formula or nursing & supplementing with formula, amount of time to take off from work, pacifier or no pacifier, epidural or no epidural. There are soo many things that people tell you “you need to do this or you need to do that or this is the best way to do this or the best way to do that.”
Don't get sucked into the wrong or right of doing things.
She says to listen to what people say but listen to it as an option – not a choice you have to make. Do the best YOU can do & do what works for you & your family. Everyone is different.
Angela and I met a couple of years ago when I was doing an event. At that time Gabby was just a newborn. Fast forward three years and she is a vivacious little child with curly hair, this beautiful olive skin, and a personality all her own.
So I went to Angela and Landon's house and took pictures of Gabby in the backyard and on the front porch. But when I went back through them, the ones that really captured me where of her in this charming little white chair; her favorite chair. She was just so relaxed, and I felt like her personality was really shining through.
I really loved working with Angela. I could just tell what a good mom she is and how much she loves her daughter.
One of the things she told me was that she worries that Gabby won't know how much she loves her.
When she has to do things like send her to timeout (which she says is a lot these days), she always makes sure to tell her she loves her, even though what she did was not OK.
I thought that was really inspiring because that's my mission – to help these kids that I paint know that they're loved, unconditionally and through it all, by their parents.
